POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS: DENTAL CROWNS & BRIDGES

After any dental procedure, it is normal to feel a certain level of discomfort or pain. While we like to send our patients off with proper post-op aftercare tips, we know that that information can sometimes be misplaced, or more questions may arise. So, we have a list of tips to help with caring for dental crowns & bridges here.

TIPS FOR CROWNS & BRIDGES PAIN MANAGEMENT & AFTERCARE
  • Tenderness: Rinse your mouth with salt water 2 to 4 times per day.
  • Flossing: When flossing, pull the floss out of the side of your mouth instead of moving it up and down.
  • Hard Foods: Stay away from hard foods such as candy and nuts. Do not chew on ice.
  • Chewy Foods: Your temporary crown can be easily pulled off or dislodged by caramel, jelly beans, etc.

Once your final crown is put in place, try to avoid chewing for at least two hours.

If any of the teeth that were worked on become uncomfortable or just don’t feel right, please call the office right away at 516-921-8010.
